our story
Established in 2012 by landscape designer Beth Schelle, we began our journey as a small local business with the goal of bringing the beauty and benefits of nature closer to home, one garden at a time. After more than a decade, our passion for what we do only deepens with each new garden we have the privilege of creating and maintaining.
As one of the only local landscape design companies specializing in Native Garden Design, we love working with the specificities of our region and climate, discovering ways to bring out the full potential of each property we visit.
We know that what we do has purpose and value in the lives or our clients and our environment. Because of that, we strive to practice sustainability to the fullest extent possible, including the use of organic local resources like compost, mulch, and native plants.

who we are
beth schelle - head landscape designer
Beth has been making Michiana’s most creative and plant-centric gardens ever since studying landscape design at Andrews University thirteen years ago. Born and raised in South Bend, she gardens on a 1 1/3 acre plot near Notre Dame that was once the Kintz Farm homestead. Over the years, she has developed a true passion for working with native plants in order to grow and support our region’s native insect and animal populations.
andy caban - Owner
Andy is from Tennessee but fell in love with southwest Michigan while studying for his landscape design degree at Andrews University. Michiana has now been his home for the last ten years. Patios, stone paths, walls, and other hardscape projects are his passion, and he approaches each project with the same care and excitement he would take with his own home.
